My name is David Ashe. I am a Southern California native and can't see myself living anywhere else in the near future. I am a UCLA alumni and will be a Bruin forever, just as I was growing up. I was a political science major, but as with so many others, my professional life has little to do with my major in college. I am an entrepreneur, web producer, project manager, game producer and digital media consultant.
I recently published a book entitled, "It’s A Quest Not A Test - A Playbook for A Game-Based Mindset Turning Challenges into Quests, Mistakes into Power-Ups, and Exams into Opportunities to Win". It is a video game based approach to how students approach school..
As an entrepreneur I am one of the founders of BCE Media Inc. which owns and operates Black Cultural Events an online event directory of cultural events for African Americans in the Southern California area and major media markets around the US. It's an incredibly rewarding endeavor and we have been serving significant and occasionally historic cultural event information to our community for many years. Some of our clients include the Hollywood Bowl, LA Phil, the Ford Theater, Center Theater Group and more. My consulting practice consists of advising and building web properties, via dash Media Arts or Creative Media Commerce, for individuals and small businesses who have neither the time nor the expertise to do so.
In my experiences as a Digital Project Manager, I have worked on and led teams that created and maintained websites and digital campaigns for Microsoft - Surface.com, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Microsoft - Corporate Stories, Sony Pictures, Oprah Winfrey Network and many others. In my days as a game producer I produced titles such as Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Kids Edition at Buena Vista Games and online games such as Knockout Kings Web Boxing and NASCAR Web Racing for EA Sports along with word games like Chain Reaction for Sony Online Entertainment.
I am a board member of the Bertram L. Ashe Educational Foundation created by my father Dr. Bertram L. Ashe. As a long-time believer in the power of education to transform lives, and coming from a family dedicated to educational pursuits, I am proud to continue the legacy of extending a helping hand to those young people who are interested in furthering their education and providing an example of how to assist those who are in need. I also participate in the Rewriting The Code mentoring program. It is a rewarding way to help the next generation of female technology students who are underrepresented in the industry. I have also served as an interviewer for mock interviews for LA-Tech.org which also assists and promotes technology education and careers for minority students.
I believe in peace and achieving peace through meditation, love my family and friends, and enjoy my life in Southern California.
